We offer primarily full day enrollment patterns 1,2,3,4 or 5 days per week
During the summer months we offer a limited number of slots avaialble for school-age children or preschoolers needing SUMMER ONLY care. These spaces fill quickly, so contact the Tanaina office early to reserve your child's spot.
Tanaina's Program
Tanaina emphasizes training for its teachers. On a quarterly basis, the center will close for the day to provide inservice training. Enrollment fees are NOT prorated for those months.
Tanaina is licensed to care for children ages 18 months to 10 years of age. There are two toddler groups with space for 18 children and three preschool groups with space for 42 children.
The preschool environment is structured to allow open exploration by the children with teachers there to help facilitate the exploration.There is a lot of outdoor play time, daily creative plays acted out by the children, and the teachers really do a great job of being in the moment with the kids...more of a learning collaboration than a top-down approach to teaching. And they don't mind if a kid wants to twirl all day long.
The preschool groups are mixed age, 3-5 years old. This allows the younger children to learn from the older children and the older children to act as mentors and "big brothers and big sisters."
